Area Attractions

Busch Gardens, acclaimed as America's loveliest theme park, is a beauty that also houses a few beasts within her gates. Nationally ranked as two of the top 10 roller coasters in the US are the Loch Ness Monster and Alpengeist. Watch out for the Big Bad Wolf, but don’t forget the Garden's newest thrill coaster, Apollo's Chariot! Shows and rides of all kinds fill the park's European-themed villages, including a great kids place, Land of the Dragons. Open from mid-March to the end of October. (757) 253-3350

Colonial Williamsburg
is centrally located close to the midpoint of the Colonial Parkway. It is a restoration of Virginia's 18th century capital city, with its commerce, government, religious and educational institutions in place. The experience is complete—the visitor will discover every aspect of 18th century daily life, including the triumphs and hardships the colonists faced with their distant royal government in England.

Go-Karts Plus
offers three thrilling fast-lane tracks, but they’re just part of the fun at this action park! The mix includes a Mini Golf course, Bumper Boats, Bumper Cars and Kiddie Land. Plus, there is a fully-equipped Arcade with shooting gallery, video games and games of skill. Open from April through October. (757) 564-7600

Jamestown Island
lies on the the southwestern end of the Colonial Parkway. It is the site of the first permanent English settlement in the New World. In 1607, the settlers scouted out the island, which they believed was far enough inland to avoid contact with the Spanish. The draft was deep enough in the newly named James River for the colonists to moor their three ships—the Susan Constant, the Godspeed and the Discovery—to trees on the island, allowing for military defense and convenience in off-loading supplies.

Pirate's Cove,
the area's newest attraction, is miniature golf with a pirate theme. After all, they did bring pirates to Williamsburg during colonial times, even if it was just to hang them! So get with the spirit, matey, and try 18 with the likes of Blackbeard looking over your shoulder...Arrrrrr!

Presidents Park,
Williamsburg newest attraction, this park features original sculptured busts of all the United States presidents from George Washington to the current occupant in the White House. Created by artist David Adickes, each of the sculptures are 18 to 20 feet high from the shoulders to the top of the head and are accompanied by highlights and facts on each presidential administration. On site is a museum, gift shop and cafe. / 211 Water Country Parkway / 757-259-1121

Water Country USA
is the largest water park on the east coast. It's a wet and wild 50's beach party for the whole family. A great respite from those hot summer days, the park has something for everyone, from lazy raft rides to lots of spiraling water slides and just for the little ones, play lagoons! Cowabunga, dude! Seasonally open from mid-May through early September. (757) 229-9300

Yorktown
lies on the northeast end of the Colonial Parkway, a sleepy little Brigadoon that awakens each year on the 19th of October for Yorktown Day. It was here on October 19, 1781 that freedom was won after a long series of battles that started with a "war of words and ideas" in Williamsburg’s House of Burgesses. Yorktown started as a tobacco port in the mid 17th century. Its deep water channel and sheltered harbor was ideal for warehousing and loading tobacco and other colonial commodities.
